APC crisis deepens as party Chairman Oshiomole condemns APC Governor Okorocha at party’s Imo gubernatorial rally

As it stands, the storm is far from calm within the ruling All Progressives Congress following turbulent primaries across many states in the country which has seen a number of Governors pitch their tent against the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole as a result of their inability to install their preferred successors.

In Imo, second term Governor, Rochas Okorocha remains a member of the party but has taken an anti-party stance by announcing his support for his preferred gubernatorial candidate and son-in-law Uche Nwosu who is flying the Action Alliance party’s flag at the polls and against Senator Hope Uzodinma who won the party’s primaries. Mr. Okorocha claims to support President Muhammadu Buhari and boasts that he is in support of his actions contrary to the position taken by the Oshiomole led APC National Working Committee. Both leaders have been engaged in a running war of words.

The battle in Imo rages on as Oshiomole took his fellow partyman Governor Okorocha to the cleaners at a campaign rally for the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Owerri. The APC chair claimed that the Governor has failed the people of the state and ironically called for a change of government, railing against what he described as the nepotistic tendencies of Governor Okorocha. He also accused him of mismanagement of state resources and embezzlement among others.

Democracy is about the people and as such we will run an inclusive government, the government of the people, by the people and for the people. Never again shall we govern on the basis of family connection. Knowing somebody or not, or marrying from a family or not will no longer matter. Your money will be used to develop Imo.

Oshiomole countered the Governor’s claim that he has the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari.
